Palmoro Hat Company
Shopify Customization, Copywriting, Logo Design, 2017
The client, Palmoro Hat Company USA, requested a refresh of their online presence and augmentation of their website with a new logo, storytelling approach, photography, and information architecture. My work on the site included design and layout of the Shopify store template including code customization, the selection and editing of photography including art direction on a location shoot, product description copywriting, setting up the storefront with product variations and descriptions, and ecommerce configuration in coordination with the owner of the company.
Dancing in the Landscape
Theatrical Technical Performance, 2016
The screen capture below is a glimpse of the audience at the Elon University event titled Dancing in the Landscape, directed by Renay Aumiller and Sara Tourek featuring choreography by students in the Theater and Dance department. This is an annual performance that takes place outdoors.
For this installment, I directed, with Susanne Shawyer, a companion piece to the performance titled “Meditations in Surveillance.” All of the dances were performed in vicinity of security cameras on campus. The image you see below is a screen capture of an HTML page constructed in real-time from cell phone video taken by covert videographers in the crowd. While the audience was watching the performance, we were recording them via cell phone as if we were security cameras. After the performance, the audience was directed to enter an auditorium where a replay of the dance gestures was projected on loop on screen. Once seated, the audience got their first glimpse of themselves watching the dancers.
Technologies: smart phone video footage uploaded to a shared Dropbox folder, compiled into a folder on a PC hooked up to a projector, and displayed in an HTML page in a browser in full-screen mode with HTML5 video manipulation using CSS3 video filters.
